Blog: Efflorescence

During or after a brick paver installation we often get asked "What is that white haze?" It is called efflorescence, and the term refers to the whitish residue on the surface of some pavers. It comes from lime within the concrete brick, and will usually disappear over time with weathering. The concerns for efflorescence are only aesthetic, as it does not impact the structural stability of the pavers. Efflorescence can be removed with cleaners, however use caution when working with them, as many are weak acid products.
